Blessed is the Doula
whose intention is to support positive birth experiences and memories for new mothers and their families.
Historically, a doula was often
part of the extended family or a respected community member, trusted within the community that the expected mother lived.
Original Doula was often the pregnant woman's mother or grandmother. They understood the needs of the pregnant woman, often
through their own personal experience, or through the tribal rites of passage, birth, prayers, rituals, songs, special foods,
and dance. In some societies, the community healer or midwife is the doula.
Today's Doula is a trained professional
who is able to provide comprehensive support from beginning to end by giving prenatal and postpartum doula services. She helps
the pregnant woman to smoothly transition spiritually and emotionally through pregnancy, labor and finally motherhood.
She also gives physical support to the entire family.
A Doula serves the mother in her time
of need -- Mothering the Mother. She supports the whole family by educating and supporting the new father and mother.
We provide physical assistance, emotional support, touch therapy and reflexology.
We celebrate your pregnancy with you.
We help with childbirth preparation.
